Petaluma Homes and Condos for Sale

Petaluma, California, is a city in Sonoma County. Its name is a Coast Miwok term (péta lúuma) for “hill backside,” which may be a reference to its closeness to Sonoma Mountain. Petaluma has a population of over 60,000 residents.

Petaluma used to be the “Egg Capital of the World” because it played a large role in the chicken industry. It’s also where Lyman Byce invented the egg incubator in 1879. Though it now no longer specializes in chicken/egg production, this community’s industries now include vineyards, produce farms, and dairy farms. One farm you can visit is Petaluma Pumpkin Patch. In addition to pumpkins, it offers a corn maze, farm animals, and more. The Plaza North is “Petaluma’s One-Stop Shopping Center.” Some of the businesses you’ll find there include Trader Joe’s, Kmart, Subway, and other establishments. The Plaza North is across the street from Lucchesi Park, a park that contains a community center, a lake, picnic areas, and other amenities. When you need to cool off from summer’s heat, you can head over to Petaluma Swim Center. This outdoor facility also has a heated wading pool. Playland’s most popular attraction is paintball. Other games it offers are nerf, airsoft, and laser tag. Mystic Theatre was once a 1911 vaudeville theater. Now, it’s a place where you can see live music concerts. Public schools in Petaluma are operated by the Petaluma City School District. There are also a few private schools and a junior college in the area.

Most Petaluma real estate properties (about 72 percent) are made up of single-family residences. Other types of Petaluma homes include mobile homes, townhomes, and apartments. They have an average of three bedrooms, and many of them were constructed during the mid/late 20th century. Consider moving your family to Petaluma. It has a lovely agricultural environment, an intriguing history, and many fun things to do.
